Playing inside on a hot summer day.

Ellie loves her butterfly rocker, but needs a Little help staying on. Lola has developed this new habit of stretching her head back and arching her back but its always with a smile. They are changing and growing so fast!

School's out for the SUMMER!

Tuesday was Mom's last day of work until September 2nd... whoo hoo! The girls have already taken summer by storm with a few play dates and lots of fun!

Swimming with Uncle Shaun... we think the girls love swimming, they kick like crazy in the water and they learned how to splash with their hands today. What a great Uncle, double fisting it!

My friend Anida and I meet at a park for lunch and play time. This is Kaiden her little boy... He was a bit disappointed that Lola and Ellie couldn't do much other than roll around, he really wanted them to run around and play!

A group of us new mom's and some soon to be moms got together for a day at the San Diego zoo. What an entourage we were (there is even a stroller and baby missing from the picture). It is nice to be out with a gang like this, every one in the group understands when the unexpected happens... although the only thing our girls did that was unexpected was sleep a lot.

Here is Lola and Ellie with their birthday buddy Bailey- all three fast asleep (Bailey was due on March 10th also)

Daddy's girls!

The girls are mesmerized and amused by Tony's "fake" sneeze. On the video I didn't capture the true laughter we have been experiencing when Tony plays with them like that but we did get a few smiles and laughs.

5 months old!

Here are their 5 month pictures. Lola was a bit tired yesterday when I took these shots... but Ellie seemed happy as a clam!

It has been pretty warm here is so cal... so we finally took the girls swimming for the first time. Below is a shot of the girls just before getting in. They were all lathered up with sunscreen and Ellie was ready to go while Lola was a bit hesitant to this new adventure.
Mom and Ellie all ready to jump in!

Uncle Mark and Lola... Lola is not to sure about this whole swimming thing, but she sure does look cute in her suit and hat.

Dad loves hanging out in the sun and watching the girls explore the water!

Me and my girls ... I swam a ton in this pool when I was pregnant with these munchkins... I think they will take after their mom and love spending time pool side in the sun and cool water!
Cousin Aiden was having fun playing in the pool with Lola and Ellie. Aiden is a very independent swimmer, he loves the pool and will be able to teach Lola and Ellie some fun tricks soon!

The girls had so much fun swimming they were asleep even before we got them changed. Lola was a bit hesitant and just seemed to hang out in the pool but did seem to enjoy herself. She only really felt comfortable with me. Ellie on the other hand loved the water and was kicking the whole time. She didn't care who was holding her she was having fun!

too cute not to share...

Just some shots taken in the last week that I thought were too cute not to share! An update on the girls' eating routine: they still spit out any cereal I put in their mouth, but I have received advice from experienced parents that I intend to try... I will keep you all posted.

I also just wanted to thank all those people who give me feedback on the blog, either through the posts or just letting me know! I am so glad that my efforts are not in vein and that you all enjoy following the girls. It makes me happy that by keeping up on the blog, you all can keep up on the girls lives. It means so much to Tony and me that our family and friends feel connected and close to Lola and Ellie!

we'll keep trying...

So the girls are taking this challenge on as a team. Together they are bracing for the worst.

Ellie didn't look too excited about this new chapter in her feeding schedule.

Lola wasn't too impressed either

check out the girls in action... good times!

We will keep trying, hopefully the girls will get used to eating from a spoon and actually keep some of the cereal in their mouth.

4 month check up!

Yesterday the girls went into the doctors for their four month check up. The got a clean bill of health and 2 shots each.

Lola weighs 14lbs8oz and is 24inches long. She is in the 75th percentile and the doctor referred to our little Lola as "Chubby Average" Lola did not like that comment one bit as she threw the biggest fit we have ever seen her throw when the doctor was examining her. She went into hysterics- screaming and kicking. So you can imagine how she reacted when the nurse gave her the shots. it sounded as if she was going to die... It broke our hearts... she looked right at me as if to say why are you hurting me so much?

(look at her poor legs)

Ellie weighs 11lbs6oz and is 23.5 inches long. She is in the 3rd percentile and the doctor referred to her as "Skinny Minni' Ellie seemed to enjoy that comment because she was a perfect angel smiling the whole time when she was getting examined and even though she did cry when she got her shots it didn't seem to affect her the way it did her sister. The doctor is not worried about Ellie's small nature, she said she is proportioned and very healthy.

(look at her poor legs)

Now that the girls are 4 1/2 months old and on only formula, the doctor said to start them on rice cereal with a spoon before their night time feeding. So tonight will be the first night we try... I will keep you posted on how well they do.

Happy Forth of July

So we spent the afternoon of the Fourth of July at the ballpark watching America's favorite pastime. Tony thinks the Padres should hire our girls as their official cheerleaders since the Padres always win when the girls are at the Park! Petco Park has what is called "Park in the Park," it is the perfect spot to watch the game when you have little ones. We found a shade tree and threw out a blanket. The girls loved the excitement and just being outside. It was a nice relaxing day, Tony said it was his favorite time ever spent at a ball park.

Lola all smiles!
Long day makes for great naps!
