Water Fight!

This is what the cousins looked like after the impromptu water balloon fight yesterday afternoon. They all had a blast- as if you couldn't tell by the pictures. Lola loved splashing in the puddles Aiden made when he threw the water balloons. I guess if you don't get dirty you're not having fun!

Art Walk

On Sunday Tony and I took the girls down to little Italy to enjoy the Art Walk festival. There was a lot of good food, good music, and cool art. The girls had fun just being out and watching all the people. Lola had the most fun while stealing bites from daddy's cheesecake on a stick.

Yummy Cheesecake!

Ellie rode on Tony forever, she loves the view from daddy's lap!

Note to my big bro Matt: There were about 750 art exhibits in this show and I did not see one landscape photography booth that even came close to your talent. Your work would have stood out like no other, and I'm sure sold like crazy!

Post for Poppi

My nephew left his basket of cars over our house last week and they have become the girls FAVORITE toys (sorry Aiden). My dad aka "Poppi" will be so happy that his little granddaughters are into cars. Hey Poppi, maybe soon enough you will have a little passenger in your race car!

They even make the sound effects when they push the cars around (I think Aiden taught them that).

Babbling Babies

What is Ellie saying these days? Well...

"dada"
"mama"
"baby"
"sisss" for sister
"shhh" for shoes
"bana" for banana
"ash" for trash
"bath"
"was at" for what's that
"Hi"
"ah-oo" for Thank you
"eyes"
"uh-uh" for uh-oh
"ball"

What is Lola saying these days? Well...

"mom"
"bath"
"ips" for chips
"dada"
"bahbah" for bottle
"emma"
"ummm" for yumm
"ball"
"mm" for milk for water

The girls are also playing the "Where's Your" game. I swear they learned all their body parts over night. Both girls can show you where their eyes, ears, hair, teeth, and bellies are - ellie can even show you where her toes are.

It is amazing to watch how fast they learn, I almost feel pressured to put my teaching skills to work at home on the girls and expose them to everything I possibly can because they are at such an impressionable age, but then again play in always underrated and I believe that children learn best when playing and having fun -so for now I will just focus on playing and having fun with Lola and Ellie.

Visit from Grandma Mar

Grandma Mar came down for a visit this weekend. The girls had a great time! Grandma took them to the park, took them swimming, read to them, and just hung out with them while mom got a break here and there. Thanks Grandma for a fun time!

Grandma and Ellie
May I ask who this girl is in the pciture below- she looks much too grown up to be my little ellie belle who was just 4lbs less than 14 months ago.

Monkey see, Monkey do

We have come to realize that our girls are watching our every move!

In the first video you may think that Lola is just playing around at meal time, but no she has learned this eating behavior from her daddy. You see sometimes Tony eats his snacks off the counter with his mouth. Since Tony has limited use of his hands, it is easier for Tony to eat smaller snacks by leaning over the bowl and retrieving some with his mouth. Let's just hopes she breaks this habit before she starts dating. And our Ellie has acquired a bit of a shoe fetish. She is always walking around in mommy's shoes, like in the second video. It is amazing how much children learn simply by watching. What will be next?

Fun weekend

Tony's cousin Matt and his wife Summer from Maryland came to visit this weekend. This was the first time they met Lola and Ellie. The girls had a great time showing them one of their favorite spots. The Ocean Beach Pier.
Summer made friends with the girls quickly by showing them all the cool stuff on her i-phone. I have decided that I need and i-phone!

The twins' first 5K

On Sunday the girls and I joined the Road Hazard team once again to run a 5k in Carlsbad.
Kathleen & Lola
Leslie, at 8 month prego, she ran too!

Okay.... so this year we didn't run -we walked. The pregos needed someone to keep them company, that's why it took us an hour to finish when the year before we did it under 30 min.

Beach Bunnies!

What a great day!
My big bro and I were very brave today. He was in Long Beach for the weekend so we decided to meet half way at Laguna beach for a fun day together. I decided to bring Aiden along so all the cousins could play together. So Matt and I have the huge responsibility of keeping 5 kiddos safe, happy, fed, and supplied with aple sunscreen (we have much more respect for our parents after today, who had 4 kids under 4 1/2 years old). The day turned out to be perfect. The kids had a ton of fun, Matt and I got to catch up, and no one got sunburned!
Ellie, Athena, Aiden, Haven, & Lola
I have decided that kids never get cold. The early afternoon was still fogged in and the ocean was freezing. None of those factors mattered to these kids... they just jumped right in.

Lola loved playing in the sand!
Ellie did too!

Uncle Matt and Lola!

Mommy and Ellie!

Haven was Ellie's little buddy all day. They swam together and played together. Haven is such a good mini-mommy.

To top it off, the kiddos got ICE CREAM!!
Thanks Matt for such a fun day!
We survived and I'll be ready to do it again soon.

Interesting

So It has been a few days since I posted the Easter pictures and no one has commented on "The most Interesting Man in the World" in the family picture :)

Believe it or not we took about four family pictures and the one with the strange guy cardboard cut out was the only one where everyone was looking. It will make for a great scrapbook page!
