Lesson Learned!

A while back I blogged about the new time-out/reflection chair I painted for the girls. Well these last couple of weeks the girls have gotten a pretty good introduction to the reflection chair. The other day Lola started hitting me and her sister because she didn't get what she wanted... consequence was an immediate time out (I am really trying to nip this hitting thing in the bud) Well Lola gets the time-out concept, she just sat on the chair and cried it out with that "I'm so sorry look" on her face. The cutest of all, is that Ellie simply could not let Lola sit in time-out all on her own. She came up and sat right by Lola the entire time, she even tried to make her feel better by giving her a kiss.
Gosh-What more can a parent ask for-sisters who will be there for each other though it all!

Ellie you are such a sweet sister!

McDonalds and a playdate!

The girls and Bailey had a living room picnic and a play date yesterday. It was super fun to watch all of them play together! and Man did the girls love their McDonald's (they have only had fast food one other time in their life and that was just a taste... this was defiantly a treat they enjoyed. Why is it even the youngest of them can't resist a french fry?

bitter-sweet transition

So Tony and I said to each other the other day when we set this new shelving up to store the girl's toys and books, "it's not a nursery anymore it's a bedroom." Who stole our babies and gave us kids? My dad gave me some advice and suggested I take pictures of the stages of the girl's room, I am so glad I am taking his advice, this is the third transition we have made. The room first had only one crib they shared and a changing table, then two cribs and a changing table, then the changing table was out and replaced with the cute chairs and now it's a bedroom and no longer a nursery. This transition is bitter-sweet, Bitter that the girls are growing too fast and sweet because they love their new toy shelf and playing in their big girls room (look at the smile on Lola's face in the second picture).

Not quite ready to give up the rocker just yet... that might take me a while!

Cousins and Costco

The girls and Aiden are starting to have so much fun together...he's like their big brother!
We Love Costco, just not on a Saturday afternoon. I do not know what Tony and I were thinking when we ventured out to Costco last Saturday at 1:00 in the afternoon (it's like the most busy time). At first the girls loved the crazy cart ride, all the people watching, and of course the samples, but about 20 min into it the girls got just as cranky as their mom was starting to get and they were giving me multiple signs that they wanted out of this huge warehouse full of crazy people buying bulk. Needless to say we did not pick up half the stuff we needed but did end up having a bit of fun anyway. The girls did get some new PJs.... Costco has the best PJs at the lowest price!
So cute in the cart together... they did get quite a bit of attention!

First Hair Cut....

Well, it's actually just a bang trim and it is much overdue. I really, really didn't want to cut bangs, but poor Ellie would always have hair in her eyes. If Lola hadn't pulled her hair clip out that held back here hair than Ellie would manage to pull it out in her own... there was really no other option to keep that hair of hers out of her eye. So I took the challenge and trimmed a 15mo old bangs on my own. Let me tell you it was no easy task (that is why the cut is not super even) forgive me Ellie.

Don't worry I did keep a lock of that hair for the scrapbook!

If Lola's beautiful locks stay as curly as they are she will not need a trim for a very long time!

So Ellie has taken it upon herself to start calling me by my name "STh-A-see" instead of Mommy, though it is very cute and funny, I would of course prefer her to call me mommy or hey I would even take daddy at his point! Tony has started calling me "Mommy" all the time so the girls will model that, we will see if that helps :)
P.S. Thanks for the feedback on our babies pictures... it is always fun to look back and compare! I think are girls will continue to change and end up looking like each of us and our families at some point in their lives!!!

Stacie, Ellie, Lola, and Emma
Uncle Drew and Aunt Sara brought the girls some ice cream cake... the girls get so excited when you sing the "Ice cream and cake-and-cake" song from the Baskins Robin commercial. They both get a huge smile and start dancing. The loved the treat.
The girls love playing card too!

Lola loves her glasses!

Letters to my girls

My Dear Lola,
I never knew how much I would fall in love with you! I love the way “mama” is one of your first and only words thus far. I love how you love to sleep, just like me. I love the way your face lights up and your three huge dimples show when you smile. I love the way you great me with a sprint and a huge hug every time I pick you up from day care. I love the way you dance in your car seat and to any blurb of music you hear. I love how you will never leave the house without at least one additional accessory- sunglasses, purse, bracelet or a hat. I love how you tackle your sister and make her laugh. I love your deep belly laugh, your big brown eyes that melt my heart, and I love how you have your daddy’s chin, it’s so cute on you. I love that you don’t wake up when I sneak middle of the night cuddles. I love to watch the way you get excited in any body of water, even a puddle on the ground. You are a true water baby! I love the way you enjoy playing by yourself and how you crawl up on daddy and try to drive his chair. Most of all Lola, I love that God chose you to be my daughter. What did I do to deserve such a blessing? This mother’s day I thank you Lola Grace for making me a mom and for giving me so much joy and so much to look forward to!

With Unconditional Love,
Your mom

My Sweet Ellie,
Oh, how our family would not be complete without you! Your spirit is so bright, funny, and loving. Your thin sweet smile is so contagious. How is it possible that a human heart can hold as much love as I have for you? I love the way you say HI when I come in to wake you up every morning and the way you hold your head to the right and say HI in the cutest voice when you have just been told NO. I love the in-depth curiosity you show for all of the new things you experience. I love how you use your little pointer finger to point at everything around you. I love how you are a social butterfly and never want to miss out on anything even if it does mean that you get so tired you end up falling asleep in your high chair. I love how determined and persistent you are as well as the cute frustration you show when it doesn’t go your way. I love how in the middle of playtime you will stop and run up to me and give me a tight hug. I love how you bring me a book, turn around, back up your bottom, and sit on my lap so I can read to you. I love how you refer to both of your parents as daddy most of the time. I love how one of your favorite pass times is to walk around in my shoes and that your favorite seat in the house is on your daddy’s feet. And I love that you will still let me rock you to sleep any night of the week. Thank you Ellie for your beautiful spirit and for always bringing a smile to my face. God undeservedly blessed me beyond belief when he chose you to be my daughter. This Mother’s day I thank you Ellie for giving us all so much to look to forward to!

With Unconditional Love,
Your mom

Good News!!!!

Good News- Ellie is not allergic to penicillin despite breaking out in severe hives when taking amoxicillin last month! This good news did not come easy... Ellie received 8 pricks in her back and two rounds of 6 shots just beneath the skin to role out the allergy. I think it hurt my heart more than it hurt her arm. She is such a trooper! Take a look her battle wounds in picture two :(
So of course Ellie had to get a treat for being such a good girl during the four hour doctor appointment. So we stopped at Nordstrom Rack and Ellie picked out a new pair of shoes (these super cute pink reef flip flops). Hey-what girl doesn't feel better after getting a new pair of shoes!
(No worries... Lola got a pair of flip flops too!)

Beach Bunch!

What a fun afternoon in the sun! The girls had a play date at the beach today with their friend Declan. After work, I piked the girls up at daycare and headed down to OB. The kiddos had fun eating sand, stealing each others sippy cups, and -oh yeah-experimenting with body surfing! I will just say all of these three one-year-olds were very brave and loved scaring their mommies half to death.

Miss Ellie

This picture somewhat captures the fun these little ones were having in the water. They were laughing, splashing, falling, and chasing each other in the water. We definitely had our hands full!
Ellie and Lola were working hard at helping us push the wagon!

Thanks Lindsay and Declan for a fun afternoon!
