From SNOW to SAND - New Years Eve 2012

What a way to top off 2012 than to start New Years Eve day in the snow and end it at the beach. We didn't plan it that way but it ended up to be so, which made it a pretty cool day! They always say California is the only place you can snowboard and surf in the same day. Well we did it 3 year old style: not quite snowboarding and not quite surfing, but it was fun all the same.
***
Mount Laguna here we come.
Our destination was stopped a bit short due to road conditions, but that didn't stop these snow seekers from finding a some suitable snowy patches.
Ellie was very proud of her little snow man.
and she loves to eat the snow.. just not the yellow snow.
Lola was all about the sledding, she even sported her bike helmet.

Lola wanted to give me a ride too!
we had a few snowball fights...

Ocean Beach here we come!
So after spending and a few hours up in the snow we headed back west on highway 8. Tony joked and said, "Wouldn't it be cool just to take the 8 all the to the beach, so our toes can touch the snow and sand in the same afternoon,"  I said "why not"... and drove straight into Ocean Beach. Man did this turn of events make these little ladies pretty happy, they thought they were headed home for naps. Their smiles say it all! Can I just say I love the beach in the winter almost as much as I do in the summer.

Then home to officially bring in the New Year (the New York new year at 9:00 PST of course)!

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL! 2013 is looking good so far!

More Christmas Celebrations...

Our girls are so lucky- their Christmas seemed to never end.
Our friends Monte and Kathleen came over to give the girls their Christmas surprise. Here they are waiting patiently in their Christmas dresses they kept on all day after wearing them to church.
Surprise... Big girl bikes.
So fun, the girls are very excited!
They actually tried these out this night in their dresses and all. They were able to ride like pros!
Lola, Kathleen, Ellie, and Monte.

We celebrated Christmas with Uncle MarK, Auntie Missi, Liam, and Aiden the day after Christmas.
These four munchkins always have so much fun together.
We had planned to fix a nice dinner, but the day got filled up so we feasted on Indian food take out - Yumm ! After the feast we opened some more gifts.

The girls got the best game ever, UNO for 3-5 year olds. We all had so much fun playing it together.
Time for the cousins to hit the hay and the parents to watch a movie... Too cute.
All four snuggled up in the girls bed! (It was a good idea, but as predicted not a lot of sleep was happening. We didn't quite mind after all it was Christmas.)

Good Night!

Christmas Evening - 2012

After the chaos of the morning subsided we headed over to Emma's house for Christmas dinner and of course more presents. The girls were greeted with the likes of this when they entered Emma's family room.
Ellie went straight for the guitar and pretty much didn't let it go the entire night. She actually has a bit of a knack for it, we might be seeing guitar lessons in her future.
CARS stuff!!
Okay so the girls just opened those super cool Leap Pads, but Ellie just kept right on strumming that guitar.

puppet and more...
I plan on creating a puppet theater out of leftover Christmas boxes this break, with the girls helps of course.
Lola loved her cozy Lightning McQueen  sleeping bag!
Ellie received a Lego Star Wars movie from Uncle Drew.. she is in love, that was the only thing that tore her away from the guitar.
...well that and the new blocks!
We sure worked up an appetite with all the gift opening.
The Cooks
The Hostages
The Mezzadri family Christmas photo
...the crazy version... Love it!

WOW, what a day of Celebration... now it was really time to get some REST!

Christmas Morning - 2012

This is how Santa left our living room late Christmas Eve... the display was sure to please the girls.

Our Christmas morning started a bit early. To ensure that both Tony and I were up before the girls, I had set our alarm for 6:30 am giving me enough time to help Tony up out of bed. Well we estimated the girls wake up time to be a bit earlier than it actually was, which turned out to be an unexpected gift. Tony and I got enjoy watching the sunrise together on Christmas day while we drank our coffee and waited for the munchkins to wake up. In our situation mornings alone together are a rarity, so it was so nice to take a moment, on Christmas no less, to enjoy it.

The girls are up and the fun is ready to begin!
Our Christmas Morning lasted a long time - no complaining here. It took a while because the girls simply wanted to play with and enjoy each gift as they opened it.

...the mess at the end of Christmas morning...LOVE IT!
Thanks all for the fantastic gifts!
The girls sure got spoiled by their grandparents, Great grandparents, aunts, uncles, and friends.
After some traditional cinnamon rolls for breakfast we headed out to put their new present to good use.
After two minutes they were pros on these Razor Scooters.

It was a perfect Christmas morning!
I absolutely love living these moments through the eyes of Lola and Ellie, so magical!
