Relaxing day off!

If you can't tell from their smiles... these little ladies were very excited to spend Memorial day at the pool!
Right now swimming is the girls very favorite activity...especially Lola.
We had a simple BBQ  with family and friends and hung out at our pool this past Memorial Day.

The ribs were a big hit... the girls dug right in!
It was a great way to spend the day off!

So soccer leagues for two and three year olds are hard to find and when you find them they are CRAZY expensive for what you get, so my local mom friends and I decided to start our own toddler soccer class. Together we have nine toddlers and the collaborative skills to teach these kids something about teamwork and pre-soccer skills, while having fun, after all I did teach PE for 3 years- how hard can this be right? Well we did some research, made a play schedule, bought some equipment, and even had some shirts made. We were ready to go!

Ella, Lola, and Ellie are ready to start having fun!

Ellie and Lola are huddled up and ready for warm-ups!
All of us moms and dads took turns leading those pre-skills games and drills. Red-light Green-light, flag-tag, goal kicks, dribble it into the hula hoop, and pass!

(some of the team) Xavier, Lola, Ellie, Ella, and Joseph.

Here's a close up of Homemade shirts!

I will say it went much better than expected but we still have a long way to go!
We will keep you posted on how this makeshift league develops.

inquisitive Ellie...

For about the past six months or so Ellie has been quite inquisitive about her daddy and why he is in a wheelchair.  She bombards Tony with questions about what happened, how he got hurt, why he got hurt, and when he's going to out of his wheelchair.  Now this kind of questioning is not out of the ordinary for Ellie, she would ask me similar questions about a hang nail if I had one. Her curiosity is so innocent and so cute. Actually the other day she brought me to tears when she told me as we were driving, "I want daddy to get out of his wheelchair." I asked her what she wanted to do with her daddy when he got out of his chair, she said "I want him to cook dinner." I simply relied "hopefully someday he can" and she simply said "yeah maybe Sunday" - I love that little girl! It's her normal and she wants to be in the know, like she does about every subject for that matter. Now Lola on the other hand is not quite as curious, though she appriciates the stories, to her it is what it is, she doesn't necessarily need the details.

Ellie turned her bike into a wheelchair the other day...why not right?

Here is Ellie's version of why her daddy's in a's too precious!

Busy Bunch!

You can tell that summer is fast approaching by how fun filled our free days have become! The past two weeks we have taken advantage of the absent "May Gray" weather and have been making new fun memories with our friends and family!

Birthday party at the beach!
First, we helped my friend from work celebrate his birthday at South Carlsbad State Beach. We spent the day eating good food, playing in the dirt, jumping over waves, and simply hanging out. Happy Birthday Vinny, thanks for the fun day!
Meghan helped me keep a hand on two eager little girls down at the beach. (My camera was on a wrong setting, hence the over exposed pics) Tony enjoyed talking about the surf with his little girls.
More overexposed pictures of the gang.

Uncle Marks Birthday!
Mid-week we helped Uncle Mark celebrate his 35th birthday at a great sushi restaurant. The girls tried Sushi for the firs time, hopefully they will love it just as much as their parents.
Ellie, Lola, Aiden, Mark, and Liam

My friend Lindsay and her family we so sweet to share some of their guest tickets to Lego Land with us this past weekend. We had such a good time. Declan, Lola, and Ellie are now tall enough to ride some of the big kid rides. I will tell you my girls are thrill seekers, they loved every minutes of the big rides! (pictures to come). All four of the kiddos Lexi included, loved playing in the huge Jungle Gym. We honestly lost each kid like three times. Ellie was by far the fastest on her feet, she would disappear in a matter of seconds. Here are some fun shots form inside the Jungle Gym.
Mini-Town was so cool. Mini replicas of US cities were built out of Legos, the kids loved watching the moving cars and studying the buildings.

The New York Skyline was complete with the new Freedom Tower and Twin Tower memorial.
Our little girls loved driving these cars. They were pretty good at it too, though Lola really took control and got the hang of it pretty quick.

There is not a better way to end a fun day at Lego Land than running through the splash park and getting all wet!

Thanks Herkerts for a fun day!

A play date at the park with Bailey was up next !
Look at these ladies, they were determined to find treasures in the sand.
Ellie at the park- she is a master at the balance beam!

Lola at the park- she is a master at the swings!

We finished up the park date with some dinner and of course some desert!

We managed to fit in a Family Night on this same weekend. Whenever we mention the word family night to the girls, they automatically think slumber party. Well they talked us into it; after watching a movie, playing some games, popping some popcorn, and jumping around, we did let the girls sleep out in the livingroom and have their little slumber party (though mommy snuck off into to her own bed after the three of them fell asleep).

The Zoo had been calling my name, so after work one day last week the girls and I headed the zoo for a late afternoon walk and ended up spending three house there just having fun and taking it all in. The visit was so impromptu, I didn't even bring my camera- smart phones are great sometimes.

Tony, the girls, and I ended up soaking up the sun and the relaxing atmosphere at the Ocean Beach farmers' market last week. It was so nice we just walked the street, bumped into some old friends, and ended up sharing dinner and the best watermelon juice I have ever had, at a sidewalk table of the famous Ortega's restaurant on Newport Ave.

And last but definitely not least, I got to sneak in a much needed date with the hubby. We enjoyed dinner together the other night at Bombay in Hillcrest! Highly recommended if you like Indian food.

The summer bug has set in and if these past two weeks are any indication of how our summer days will be spent, June 13th (my last day of work) can't come soon enough!
Cheers to the great summer ahead!

My Perfect Mother's day!

My fourth Mother's Day was simply perfect!
I got to spend the whole day with my two favorite ladies! We went to church together in the morning and then met Tony's family for brunch at Solare in Liberty Station. After brunch we spent some time at the park and then headed home for a relaxing evening. I couldn't have planned a better day myself , thank you Tony for making my mother's day special and for spoiling me!
I will tell you that as each Mother's day passes, I fall more and more in love with my little girls. I am so proud and so thankful that I get to be Lola and Ellie's mom. I love and am honored that I get to be their rock, their shoulder, their guidance, their punching bag, their safety, their go to, at times their friend and at times their worst enemy, but best of all simply their mom forever, because as the saying goes, to every child from their mother...
"No one else will ever know the strength of my love for you.
After all, you're the only one who knows what my heart sounds like from the inside"

Our fun and funny bruch pictures!

To My Mom, I love you and missed you today!
Thanks for simply being my mom and always being there!

very veggies!

Sunday we spent the evening with the Kellys.
We shared a great dinner and had some fun while we were at it!
This is one way to get them to eat their veggies!
Monte and Kaps were having fun getting the girls to fill up on the good stuff!

DD and daddy at the "dentist"

First, for some reason the girls have just recently started calling their daddy "DD" were not sure why but it is really kind of cute. I am sure it will be short lived but I can't help and try and document the cute stuff I know I will forget in a minute.
Ellie and her DD!

Second, the girls were inspired by their last dentist visit and "DD" was their victim. The girls took it upon themselves to steal mommy's makeup brushes and demand that DD recline his wheelchair like the dentist chair does, so that they both can work together and "Clean" his teeth and "check for cavities" I believe that DD got a clean bill of health from his little cuties!

Daddy is a good sport, that's for sure! We love you DD!
