Nothing but time!

Well I think I can say we are offically in SUMMER mode. The girls and I literally have nothing but time on our hands and we are taking advantage of every minute. You can see from the pictures below that our week was full and fun!

We headed to what the girls call "The Beach Park" aka Fanuel Park with Bailey for some sandcastle building, bay water swimming, swinging, and picnicing. It was a great way to start the week!

We decided to stay home on Tuesday since the rest of our week was full, but that did not mean for a second these ladies were slowing down. Their trains got a 'trainwash' in the splash table while mommy tried to clean the house. After lunch the girls met up with their buddy (our neighbor) Boston and made a super cool bicycle course out of sidewalk chalk which included a gas station, a bike wash, a candy shop, and parking spaces.

Mom had a work meeting, but that didn't stop these little water babies from having fun. While our instructional leadership team met at our Pricipal's house to prepare some things for next school year, all the kids had a blast swimming, watching movies, and playing with each other's toys.

The girls and I met Uncle Mark, Auntie Missi, Aiden, Liam, Amy, and Ella at the Santee Aquatics Center- So COOL! It makes me wish I was a kid again. Though they don't let you take pictures inside, I had to steal this from google images beacuse it's that cool. After 3 hours of non-stop water play we had a picnic in the shade. Uncle Mark and family had to escape a bit early as Liam was in dire need of a nap.

Friday was one of our favorite days- we spent the morning hours on Cornado Beach- North Island with Emma. The beach was almost empty and the waves were just perfect for the girls to explore. It was so peacefull. We spent lots of time hunting for shells, running in waves, building sandcastles and best of all we did some shopping afterwards at the Navy Exchange-needless to say the girls got hooked up with some new clothes. Lola was in need of some bigger pants- she is now a size 4T!

We all headed to one of  Tony's bestfriends family picnic. Chris, Sonja, Byrce, and Solana were the hosts. The girls were mostly concerned with swiging and eating all the cookies at the desert table, I don't blame them.

This picture of Tony and Lola sums up our week pretty well!
As you can imagine, the girls have been sleeping pretty hard these days!
(I failed to mention that we had swim lesson in the evening Monday- Thursday of this week too)

....and it's not even July yet!

Daddy the Storyteller

Our bedtime routine is as follows: Bath (every other night), PJs on, drink milk while watching a 10 minute episode of Fireman Sam, brush teeth, read two stories with mom, say prayers, lights out, and then daddy comes in as the cleanup hitter and settles them into nighttime with a home grown story. I will have to say I even enjoy listening to Tony's stories; they are full of depth and details. Sometimes the girls have full conversations about people or animals I have never heard of and come to find out they are characters in the daddy’s bedtime sagas.

One of the most popular topics of these bedtime stories is Sharks, not just nice ones but mean ones too! Meet the shark pictured below, the girls know her as 'Franny'. She is a nice shark that protects "their" yogurt shop. Mind you, you can practically see this shark from our patio (it's technically Joes Crab Shack). Tony has built a whole world around this character Franny. The girls can tell you about Franny's brother and sister, and how Franny’s mom also has twins but they were captured for a short period of time by Tommy and Jaws shark- no less. Franny goes on many adventures and escapes danger multiple ways.

Lola and Ellie really look forward to story time with daddy. They have actually become quite the story tellers themselves because of it. It is interesting because our children are getting to the age where they will start remembering the things they are currently experiencing. I believe the girls will remember daddy story time forever.

Here they are meeting Franny in person.
The are looking at Franny intently as they search for her battle wounds from daddy's stories.

Just look at those impressionale minds!
This stage of true belief in the make-believe is so short lived,
it is such pleasue to take in the magic of it all with your own children.

Exploring the Firehouse Museum and more

Summer days allow for a lot of exploration even in our own city. We took the trolley down town to met Lindsay, Declan, and Lexi in Little Italy to explore the Firehouse Museum (we all know how much the girls love firetrucks).  The kids got to climb and "drive' and old fire truck, but since that was the only truck they were aloud to climb on their interest in the museum was short lived. So we headed down India street to have lunch and of course get some frozen yogurt, before heading back on the trolley to go home.
Here the girls are patiently not so patiently waiting for the trolley.

Don't know if any would recognize this background, but my sister-in -law Melissa took the girls' 1 year photos at this spot. I couldn't help but have them pose here again. It's unbelievable to compare these shoots and realize how fast time goes by.

The ladies waiting again patiently for the trolley to take us back home.
So much summer much more exploring to do!

Tide Pools, a day with Uncle Shaun

This week we got a relatively surprise visit from Uncle Shaun. He had some business to attend to in So-Cal, so we took advantage of all his free time! We were on the go all day having a ton of fun! We started with lunch and then headed out to the explore the tide pools off Point Loma, and wrapped the day up with a BBQ and movie!

At the tide pool Aiden was taking the lead, what a great cousin!
Lola, Aiden, and Ellie
What can we find here hidden in these tide pools?

Boys will be boys...crab hunting while getting a bit too close to the edge!
Found one...

Uncle Shaun couldn't leave without getting some true tickle time with his nieces and nephews. From these pictures I can't tell who winning. All I know is that the kids figured out how to use swim noodles and ball to their advantage.
Great seeing you buddy... can't wait to see you again soon!
