Local Fun!

Before we left on our trip to Grandma and Poppi's house we had some local fun with friends. First we headed to Santee Lakes to meet Amy, Ella, Jamie, Boston, and Makay for a day of splashing, feeding ducks, and going wild at the park.

Impromptu Pizza Night with the Fam!
The girls and I were leaving Santee Lakes when we got a call from my brother who was going out for pizza in the area... so of course we had to participate in pizza night!

We can't stay away from the beach this summer, it's just too much fun for all involved!
We headed to Moonlight Beach in Encinitas to meet our friends Lindsay, Declan, and Lexi. It was so cute how the three of them held hands and jumped over waves together.

The girls' buddy Bailey and her parent Kevin and Kathleen love swimming with us at our pool. This playdate is pretty much on a weekly basis. We love having our firneds over to swim with us!

I feel like we have enough fun for two summers this season and there is still a whole month to go, Whoo Hoo!

DAY Seven, last day of our trip.

We spent the day picnicking and hiking in Big Basin National Park to enjoy the beauty of the Redwood Forest or as Ellie would call it "The deep, deep, dark forest"
Lola, Poppi, Grandma, Stacie, and Ellie

Ellie was determined to hide inside every hollowed out Redwood tree!

Big Basin had a cute stage that became a dancing platform for the little girls (and the big girls).

My Curious Ellie...
...who was looking for "The Grumpy Old Troll" at each bridge crossing.

Lola and Ellie collected sticks (aka Light Savers) to protect themselves from  Bigfoot, Darth Maul, and the Grumpy Old Troll, who live in the deep, deep, dark forest.

I simply can't make the trek up to Northern California without spending sometime among the magnificent Redwood trees! Santa Cruz always calls my name when I visit my old stomping grounds.

We spent our morning visiting with my paternal grandparents. My Grandpa (aka Great Grandpa) is 92 years young and my Grandma (aka as GG) is 88 years young. They both had so much energy to keep up with our crowd, it was great!

Yummy lunch topped off with GG famous chocolate chip cookies!
My grandparents have this crystal hanging in their window (that was actually made by my late maternal Grandfather) it cast rainbows all over the kitchen. The girls loved chacing them and making them land on their body! It was a highlight of the girls' morning for sure.
Lots and hugs and kisses!!!

After a short nap in the car we were off to meet our friends that live in the area. We met Melissa and the girls' buddy Brady for an afternoon at the park! It was so much fun!

This park was full of fun adventures. It had a train, a carousel, and a jumpy!!
After the park the kids cooled down with some super blue cotton candy ice cream, Yum!

DAY Five

We spent the morning with my maternal grandmother, the girls' great grandmother... aka Nana. The girls had a great time just playing in the back yard, eating yummy brunch, and hanging out with their great grandmother.

In the evening my dad cashed in his Father's Day gift from me , which was an evening out -my treat. We had a great dinner together and then we actually got to see a movie (can't remember the last time I saw a movie in the theatre).
