Taking Care of Business

Though we had a lot of business to take care of on the last few official days of summer, we managed to squeeze in some fun between the business.
The Night Zoo!
The weather at night has been perfect so it would have been a shame to go the whole summer without a visit to the San Diego Zoo at night!

Not-so-much-work Work Day!
Of course in preparation for the upcoming school year, I had to put a little time in at work getting my classroom ready... the girls were so excited to help me...but of course their primary objective was to play on the big kid playground right outside mom's classroom.

...but of course for me it's hard to work too long on a day your not getting paid, so after about a hour the girls and I headed off to the beach for one last lazy summer day in the waves!
It was a great day with just the girls and me.

Preschool Orientation!
The last bit of business we had to take care of this week was a big one for me- Preschool Orientation! At this orientation the girls got to see their classroom, meet their teacher (Ms. Eliza), decorate their name tag, and take a tour of their school. The girls are excited yet a tad reserved about this new endeavour, but I think they are so fortunate to have each other for support when they take on new experiences like these. I will say that I left feeling so comfortable and satisfied with Tony and my choice in preschools and I am really looking forward to helping Lola and Ellie start their school experience. I know it's a little step for them, but it's a big step for my heart. No tears were shed this day but I bet there will be a few rolling down my cheek as I walk to my car after dropping them off their first day of preschool on Tuesday, September 4, 2012.

(Yes, I asked Ms. Eliza, their preschool teacher, if other kids will have their blankie with them like Lola and she said OH YES many...good thing because Lola has already planned on taking it with her. And Ellie is beyond herself with excitement that the playground at their preschool is called "The Shark Tank" complete with a a shark hanging on the fence- and we all know how much Ellie loves sharks)
It's back to the daily grind for me as well on Tuesday- but as you know that doesn't stop us from having fun! We welcome fall and football season with open arms, but not before we head to Coronado for our annual Mezzadri family beach trip next weekend- one last hurrah of Summer 2012.

Soccer Champs!

Last week marked the end of the soccer season for our not-so-official soccer league, The Destroyers! All in all the mommy-made (and daddys too) Saturday morning soccer play date was a success. All of the kids had fun together, learned a bit about soccer, and in the end played a game that resembled a soccer game. During our 45 min-ish soccer practices we played red-light-green-light, flag tag, follow the leader, goal kick challenges; we practiced throw ins, dribbles,  goalie duties, and three practices we actually played soccer. Though for the kiddos the highlight of practice was of course snack time, but who cam blame them. Here are some highlight pictures of the season!

Amy (you can call her the official team mom) organized an award ceremony after the last practice. It was cute- the kids felt so special getting their award and a framed picture of themselves! Of course the kids are only between the ages of 2 and 4 so everyone got a first place award in something. Lola received the first place ribbon for best Flag Tag Player and Ellie received the first place ribbon for best Throw-ins.

Staycation San Diego

Tony, the girls, and I headed up north about 40 minutes to spend the last full week of summer together at the Welk resort in Escondido. It was a perfect staycation and an even better way to celebrate yet another wonderful summer! The girls had a nickname for this vacation, they called it "Vacation Seven Pools" As you will see from the pictures we spent a lot of time swimming, which quick frankly is all the girls would want to do on their vacation anyway. Not only did it have seven pools but it had two splash pads, a golf course to frolic on, and a magic couch that made into a bed. Needless to say the girls had a fabulous staycation!

Our pool time at the "Mountain Springs Pool"

Another day at "Mountain Springs Pool"

Our condo looked out onto the 15th hole.
After golf  hours the girls had fun taking advantage of the perfect grass and ample space to run and play! Most evening others kids would join them on the golf course. They made many new friends. It was really cute to watch them venture out and play with their new buddies.

Cookie Party Time
Every night we had to bake cookies and while the cookies baked the girls insisted on jumping on their "Magic Bed" They referred to it as their magic bed because of course it was a couch in the morning and a bed in the evening.

Our friend Lindsay and her family are members at the Welk so we had the pleasure of spending some swim time with them one day too! All four kiddos, Lola, Ellie, Lexi, and Declan,  loved jumping off the wall together- It was too cute!

Night Swimming!!
YES, It was vacation and we let the girls stay up late to experience night swimming for the very first time. As kid I can remember nothing better than swimming under the lights on a warm summer night!

Four days of swimming two plus times a day equaled some very tired girls.

What a great week!
Got to love family vacations...so many good memories made!
