Twins on Ice

Ever since Christmas Eve, when we ice skated at the Hotel Del, the girls have been asking about ice skating and when they would be able to go again. Since we have taken a break from dance class we asked the girls if they wanted to take ice skating lessons, they were beyond the moon exited at the suggestion. I will have to say Daddy, Tony, was pretty darn excited too. Though on the day of the lesson Lola decided she didn't want to go. Ellie still wanted to go, so we told Lola it was okay that she didn't want to take the lesson and that she could just watch Ellie skate. After all, I guess it is time we get used to the fact that are girls, despite being the same sex and the same age, are not always going to want to do the same things at the same time. But to our surprise, on the drive up to the lesson, Lola proclaimed she had changed her mind and that she too wanted to skate. Tony and I were happy that we didn't push Lola to participate, but that she decided to participate on her own and from the permanent smile on her face for the full 30 minutes, I know Lola was happy she chose to take the lesson too!
Here they are ready to skate!
They started with an "off ice" lesson from Ms. Jessica

Onto the ice they go!
They started off holding Ms. Jessica's hands...
... but it didn't take long before they were NO HANDS on the ice.

Look at these ladies... they were skating queens by the end of the lesson.

Lola and Ellie couldn't stop talking about how much fun they had and we didn't get but two feet out the doors when they asked when they could go back again.
Who would have thought!

Bathing Beauties

I love how bath time is still so much fun for these little ladies... and never do they want to take a bath alone.  They hear me run the water and come running... I can't even begin to describe the intricate  made-up games these two play in the tub... What would these little ladies do without eachother.

Mix and match photos...from this past week!

Lola playing dress up with mama's cloths, she sure knows how to wear it!

We finally got to spend some time with my friend Anida this past week... I love Irvine Spectrum, the girls love it too. Ellie, Lola, Kaiden, and Anabelle had fun together too!

Cute Cousins... this line up never gets old!

"Team Work"
These ladies were singing their Team Work song as they built their lego city.  They were really working together to get things done... it was so cute.

Loving Legos...

and so it begins... the adventures with Legos! "Mom, these are more fun than playing cars and blocks and people," Ellie proclaimed, and Lola proudly totes her self made Lego princess car everywhere she goes lately. I have to admit I am really excited about the girls new interest in Legos. I love building with legos and love that it is truly something we can do together. I am in the works of crafting the perfect Lego table for them, just in time for their birthday.

Friday family fun night...

....starts with a little dress up

... is when the girls opt to eat on the coffee table (a special treat)
... is when Ellie turns into a bazongie (aka zombie)

... is when daddy turns into a bazongie too

... ends with the whole family going crazy
Just another typical Friday night at the Mezzadris!

a little lax

I have been a bit lax on taking picutes these past few weeks. I think it is simply because our happenings these days have been pretty simple, the way it should be after a whirlwind holiday season, but here is one... just because.

happiness all wrapped up in one photo

I was cleaning out the girls' art drawer the other day and as I carried this box of old crayons to the trash to separate the usable from the unusable,  I simply stared at this box and realized how much joy it brought to me... I know- lame (I'm a simple girl), but I couldn't clean out this drawer without capturing it... the bright color, the possibilities, and the simple pleasure such an overlooked box can bring. Childhood. The possibilities. The wonder. The discovery. The limitless creatvity.

Winter Break Adventures

So both the girls and I had two weeks off for Winter break, no work for me and no school for the girls. What to do will all this free time? Well in addition to celebrating Christmas and bringing in the New Year, we managed to fit in a little play time!
Family Bike Ride
We were able to perfect our skills on the big girls bikes they received for Christmas, enough so to take an official family bike ride. You got it. I strapped on my bike helmet and the girls and I went on a bike ride around the neighborhood. It was a fun and successful afternoon... a lot of teaching was going on during this bike ride for sure.

Bailey's House
We got to have a Tea Party and play time with our friend Bailey.
Aiden's Karate
Aiden, my nephew,  has been taking Karate lessons for a while and his first tournament was over the winter break, we got to watch him put the moves on his opponent.

Shell Hunting at Coronado.
The girls and I went with Emma to spend a morning at the beach. Our goal was to find some sand dollars to fix a previous sand dollar project, but no such luck. Instead we found lot of sand to build sand castles with and to write our name in, we found some sunshine to relax in, and a good grassy hill to roll down! It was such a pleasant morning at the shore.

Playing Campfire
The girls have this new playtime activity. It rained a bit this winter break and so the girls got the idea to build a pretend campfire out of rocks and sidewalk chalk to keep them warm. So they brought out their camping chairs and just sat around their pretend fire. Man to have the imagination of a kid again!

Kidventure and Dinosaur Park
We got a chance to spend time with our friends Lindsay, Declan, and Lexi. We started our day at Kidventures and then ended it at the Dinosaur park for a pic-nic lunch. It was a great day. Our friend Amy and Ella joined us for the fun too!

Snow Again
So we couldn't resist and had to head up to the snow again. This time the roads weren't closed and we were able to head up to 6000 feet to spend the afternoon at our friend Amy's family's cabin. It was great, we got to build a few snowmen and sled down some fun hills.
The three musketeers: Ella, Ellie, and Lola

Paddle Boarding
I simply couldn't let a break from work go by without hitting the water. I picked the best morning of the week that's for sure. The water was glassy,  the wind was absent, and it was crisp not cold. A perfect combination for a morning of paddling on the Marina.

I'll say it was a good start to 2013!
