cousins are the best!

Lucky us, my niece had a gymnastics competition in San Diego a few weekends ago. This meant we got to spend time with my brother, sister-in-law, and nieces.
It's always so fun to get the cousins together.
Lola, Haven, Ellie, and Athena... All smiles!
Liam and Ellie up in a tree.
The whole gang of cousins minus Shae
Ellie is very found of her Uncle Matt these days!

Matt and I took the girls shopping in La Jolla shores and to the beach for a fun Saturday.

Sydney and Uncle Matt!
All of us spent Sunday watching Athena compete.
She did Awesome and won a ton of medals.
She rocks and she's only eleven, I guess that's what you get when your mom's a coach!

Needless to say Athena and Haven wore these Ladies out!

everyday fun

Playing catch up and dumping photos off my phone.
We been having fun these days and some of it was captured by my phone.
Awhile ago San Diego got some rain,
yeah you read that correctly RAIN and the girls sure did have some fun!
We spent a Sunday afternoon watching my Principal's sons perform in the CYT production of
The Sound of Music! Finn with Lola and Ellie

Ellie was a bit envious of Lola's time with me when she was at theatre class, so one day after work Ellie and I headed out for an adventure of our own. Ellie was set on finding a "meadow" to play in. We headed to Mission Hills and she found a spot to her liking. It was a fun afternoon and fantastic to spend some time with just Ellie.
She brought "Lilly France" along for the adventure.
We found some cool rocks and even some worms.

We just recently found out the girls love Sushi!
Score… off to Sushi we go! It just so happened to be Dr. Suess' birthday, hence Lola's hat.

Silly Girls!

After school beach days…
yes it's becoming that time of year again and all of us couldn't be happier!
School uniforms doubled as swim suits this day.

Hiking Cowles Mountain!
These little ladies are troopers, they hiked the whole way up and the whole way down.
Lola and my neighbor Candice lead the way and Ellie and I took our time but made it to the top!

Concluding this post with

Lola lost something...

About 11:30 am on Friday, I got interrupted at work with a text from Lola's preschool teacher.
I open the text and see this picture...
My heart sank, but at the same time I was so happy. I was so excited for Lola , it took all of me not to drop everything and leave work to head straight to their preschool and give this girl a squeeze. But, I took a moment, and realized even though I am one of those moms, I had to contain myself. Of course, I texted right back and said "if Lola wanted to call me I would have my phone by my side." See Lola was pretty upset to begin with because though she lost her tooth, she had no idea where her tooth was. I guess the whole preschool was on the hunt for Lola's tooth. After all this was the first lost tooth this preschool has ever experienced. I guess Lola's preschool teacher has never had a student loose their tooth at preschool. It was a novelty for sure and Lola was a little celebrity for the day. But no such luck, we never found her tooth.

...And so it begins the adventures of the tooth fairy...

Lola's bottom two teeth have been pretty wiggly for about three weeks now and Ellie has one wiggly tooth too. I felt pressure to get their tooth fairy pillows made… and quickly. The girls wanted to pick out their own material and trim and together we made the pillows. Now I am no expert sewer, but the girls loved their pillows, complete with a perfect size tooth pocket.

But we had no tooth to tuck into the pocket… so we had to do the next best thing and write a letter to the tooth fairy explaining our situation in hopes she would still stop in for a visit.
The letter read "Dear Tooth Fairy, I lost my first tooth and I don't know where it is. I think it is in my belly. I hope you will leave me a treat anyway. Love, Lola"

With much excitement Lola tucked the letter in the pocket of her tooth fairy pillow and put it under her pillow.

Good night my sweet toothless Lola, I hope your fairy dreams come true!

To our surprise the Tooth Fairy wrote Lola a letter back. Her name is Chanter and she was very understanding of our situation. Chanter, Lola's tooth fairy,  left her a treat despite having no tooth in return. She left our sweet Lola this note along with a crisp dollar bill and some very special "fairy dust."
This is how it came, all wrapped up and tucked  into Lola tooth fairy pillow pocket.

The next morning, Tony and I heard pounding foot steps just after sunrise. Lola comes charging into our room, jumps on our bed, and shares with us what the tooth fairy brought. She was so happy! These moments are priceless, simple joys of parenthood.
We love Lola's new smile!
